MAINTENANCE OF STEAM STERILIZERS AND RACKS
MATERIALS NEEDED:
*Neutral pH soap and scotch pads can be

AMGO 360 Neutral Cleaner (soap) #31056; 3M Hand Pads
(Scotch Pads) #7447
COOL DOWN OF CHAMBERS
1. Turn off steam supply
2. Seal door shut
3. Run cycle and wait until sterilizer purges itself
4. When gauges read zero, push reset button--open door and let cool
CLEANING CHAMBER, DOOR, END RING, RAILS & BAFFLE PLATE
1. On a weekly basis, cool chamber prior to cleaning.
2. Remove rails using large screwdriver or a coin
3. Mix 1 oz. Neutral pH soap with 1 gal. cold water in flat pan.
4. Place pan with soap mixture inside chamber.
5. Clean chamber by dipping scotch pad into solution & scrub chamber walls using a back & forth motion.
6. For heavily stained areas, use alcohol-based product with a scotch pad.
7. Baffle plate, door cover plate- clean in a sink, use diluted neutral soap and scotch pad
8. All parts and chamber can be wiped quickly at the end of cleaning with just a wet rag. Water may need to be changed once or twice while cleaning.
GASKETS:
1. Working on a 1 foot section,
spray an alcohol-based product (ex. odorless mineral
spirits or rubbing alcohol) on the gasket and rag; then
scrub area. (You can use a scotch pad with alcohol
product for more thorough cleaning)
LOADING CARS AND RACKS
Suggested methods:
1. Cart washer, if available
2. Out by loading dock, use a garden hose or pressure hose
3. Rack assemblies / shelving pieces can be washed in a sink using diluted neutral soap and scotch pad
** Special note: Do NOT wash transfer carriage; unless it is made of stainless steel. (rusting may occur)
Method:
1. Use alcohol-based product and scotch pads on stubborn stain.
2. Wash with diluted Neutral pH liquid soap (1 oz. to 1 gal. water) and scotch pad.
3. Rinse with cold water.
4. Wipe excess water with clean rags.
